The Apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Bayside date back to the year 1970 when Veronica Lueken, the chosen instrument of Heaven, was graced with the first of a series of Apparitions in her home on April 7th. Our Lady instructed the seer to hold Vigils of Prayer during the apparitions of the Virgin Mary on the eves of the great feast days of the Church on the grounds of the old St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Bayside, in front of the statue of Our Lady of Grace (since 1975, they are held at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Flushing, Queens, NewYork). She promised that during these apparitions She would give her a Message for the world beginning on June 18th that year. The Apparitions of the Virgin Mary continued for 25 years until Veronica's death on August 3, 1995; however, the Vigils of Prayer continue to the present day.
